A MOMENTARY GRATIFICATION

Does it happen to you when you see something attractive to you and you want it immediately regardless of any consequences? This happens to me alot, as I am very easily tempted by something that attract me. Have any of these decision that you made, make you regret?
One occasion, when I was shopping,  a pair of Prada, limited edition shoe caught my attention. I stopped immediately and I knew I have to try it on, hence I asked for a size 43, but it turned out that there are only size 42 left. Not only did it hurts my feet as it was too small for me, it is very expensive as well. I considered for a long time and finally decide to purchase this pair of nice shoes, thinking that I will eventually get used to it when I wear it more often.
First week of wearing the shoe, I loved it, especially when friends around me complimented on my shoes, but it hurts my feet very badly and blisters even appeared on my feet. Second week of wearing this pair of shoes, I occasionally start to complaint that the shoes made me felt more tired from walking, therefore the times I wore the shoes became less frequent than I used to.
Finally, after one month of wearing the pair,it  is not painful anymore, as the blisters have already formed into dead skin around my feet. One day, when I was about to wear them out, I was startled to find that my once beloved pair of shoes have crack lines, and many signs of wear and tear. I was disappointed as, this shoe is not as appealing as it used to be. Only then did I regretted from buying this pair of shoes, and I have regretted having to gone through one month of pain.
What you like and what is suitable for you, is two separate issues,  I used to like and want many things, but  have overlooked the many consequences. Many of times in life, we are too hasty in making decisions, such experience have made me learnt to be more careful in making decisions in life, take my time and slowly consider the consequences, and not be affected by the momentary gratification.

Egoism will lead to one's destruction

Recently I have heard read an interesting story, told by my father. The story begins when a big naval ship with the highest ranking commander on board, was sailing on the pacific ocean after a naval exercise for many days, and was finally returning to its base. One night, on their journey, they meet with big haze that blocked the vision of the ship. Hence the ship captain have to rely on their navigation system to guide the way.
Suddenly, the navigation system, alert the ship captain with an unknown object that was approaching their ship. The commander on board did not want to move away and used the loud speaker to communicate, "The ship in front, move out of the way!". The unidentified object replied, "No, you have to move out of the way!". The message angered the commander, that rebuked " How dare you tell me to move away, do you know that I have the highest authority in the military?"," Heed my advice, better sail away from this direction!". The commander did not listen to the other party, and sail full speed ahead. On spur of a moment, the ship crashed, and everyone on board did not survive. It was too late for them to realise that they have crashed into a light house.
The morale of this story taught me that, no matter how high of a status one have, they should not be stubborn or arrogant, in fact we should be humble and be willing to listen to others advice.

NEW FOUND LOVE

We have all grown up trying to find our true passion in life. For instance, some people have talent in speaking, or good social skills, mostly end up being a TV host or people relation manager. Some, have talent in dancing, may end up being a dancer. However, not many people end up doing what they enjoy in their career, that explains the hugh dissatisfaction in people's daily jobs, and the uprising staff turnover rate. Therefore, choosing what one is passionate about, will definitely benefit in their future career.
As for me,  I have started searching for my passion in life since five years ago. Remembering when I was younger, I have many ambitions, for example, being policeman, pilot, and ecetra, all because I find these profession cool. As I grow up I decide to pursue my career in doing something I love. Recently, I discovered  my interest in designing. I designed my own room of my new flat that I was moving in, in July. Actually, since young, I already knew, I have a thing for art, drawing, making or improvising furnitures, but chose to gave up thinking that it would be a difficult and competitive carrer to pursue. It could be my father's advice that made me gave art a second thought, saying "There are many talented artist in the world, it may take you a very long time for people to recognised your talent, or worst, never work out at all." Hence, I lost hope for drawing.
Designing my new room, have again sparked my interest in designing, I could feel that this talent is in built in me that I have never lost, hence I decide to continue to draw, and design, hoping that in the near future I can a chance to show everyone my capabilities.

THE BEST PRESENT I RECEIVED

Birthdays have never seem to be a big deal to me since young, as my birthdays always falls near or on exam period, when everyone is busy preparing for exams. Not only my friends, but also my family, never have the habit of celebrating birthdays because according to my father, it is a waste of money and time.
Friends tend to forget my birthday as it falls on such a non appealing day. Hence I always receive      lesser presents than everyone else. In contrast,  my mother, whom of all people, will never forget my birthdays. She always prepares a table of my scrumptious food to celebrate it with me. Therefore , that was the only thing I look forward to during birthadays, and I am always very grateful to her.
On Friday,  I finally turned twenty two.I did not expect any big surprises or organise any big party , but went to school as usual. In the evening, my friends called me out for dinner, which never have I expected that they would treat me to an expensive seafood restaurant called 'Jumbo'. I had my fill of black pepper crab and salted egg prawns that night , which I have craved for months. My friends not only helped me to satisfy my stomach but also my cravings. Therefore, I was very thankful to my friends for not only remembering my birthday, but also bought me such an expensive dinner. This have been my best present I have received in 2013.
